Capacity Building Programme

The GenderPro Capacity Building Programme is a first-of-its-kind course designed to educate international development professionals on the best approaches to improve the lives of women and girls around the world. The course consists of about an hour and a half of work per week over about four months and an applied practicum focused on a work deliverable. Two 16-week cohorts are administered per year. The total cost of the course is $2500. Payment will be due after acceptance to the course, but before the course begins.

Participants in this applied programme will learn to:

  • Conduct a gender analysis of development projects within different country contexts
  • Integrate gender-responsive strategies and interventions
  • Create specific solutions for integrating gender into development programmes
  • Work with relevant stakeholders for sustainable results

Core content received by all participants includes:

  • Gender analysis

  • Gender-integrated programme design and implementation

  • Monitoring & evaluation of and reporting on gender-integrated programmes

  • Advocacy and communication for gender-integrated programming

The core content draws on resources, case studies and exercises that are relevant to both practitioners and policymakers.

Cross-cutting issues, such as violence against women and girls (VAWG), humanitarian assistance, and ethics in research and practice, will be addressed throughout the programme.

"I’ve just completed the Gender Pro course and I’m very satisfied and happy I did so. I would encourage all my development partners and colleagues to, in fact, strengthen their gender skills in programming. I do believe that we will not be able as a collective community to achieve any of our SDGs by 2030 if we do not properly address gender inequality, unequal gender and power dynamics and social norms. So I think it is very much applicable to all sectors in the development areas and I encourage all my colleagues to sharpen their skills and be bold about it."
